What’s in a Name?
Amid a sea of massage business names filled with words like tranquility and serenity, Journey Massage might seem like the odd one out. But there’s a special meaning behind it—one I want to share.
My massage office in Watertown
When I first began brainstorming names for my practice, I naturally considered the usual peaceful-sounding options. But none of them felt quite right. They didn’t capture the full picture of what massage therapy means to me or the powerful role it can play in a person’s overall wellness.
At the same time, I was wrestling with a much bigger question: Do I really have what it takes to run my own business? The cost of being your own boss—financially, emotionally, and mentally—is no joke.
During this time of reflection, I noticed something. The messy, behind-the-scenes grind of starting a business reminded me a lot of the journey to health and wellness. Neither path is smooth. Both are filled with ups, downs, setbacks, and small wins.
Running a business as a twenty-something just learning how to “adult” is not always, well… graceful. The same goes for anyone trying to make real, lasting changes to their health. Some days you’re crushing it—other days it’s a victory just to walk that extra block and not let the bank account give you a panic attack.
Eventually, I realized I could do this business thing—but only if I let go of the illusion that it would be perfect from the start. There would be trial and error, unknowns, and a lot of educated guesswork. What works for one person or business might not work for me. And that’s okay. Because that’s life. That’s wellness. That’s growth.
Journey Massage got an official sign on the door
The path to anything meaningful is rarely paved. It’s often a slow, uphill climb. But if you keep going—step by step—you will eventually turn around and realize just how far you’ve come.
And that’s when Journey Massage was born. It's not just a name—it’s a quiet, steady reminder: keep going. Through every high and low. Through every setback and breakthrough. Your goals are still ahead, and you’re not walking alone. It’s a journey.
I’ll be cheering you on—keep walking your journey!
